Febrile seizures are commonly encountered in children aged 6 months to 5 years and are clinically classified as simple febrile seizures (SFS) or complex febrile seizures (CFS). This study aimed to identify factors associated with febrile seizure classification among children presenting to the Emergency Department of Harapan Anda Islamic General Hospital, Tegal City. A quantitative observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from May to July 2026, involving 35 children selected using total sampling. The independent variables included age, gender, body temperature, previous febrile seizure history, and leukocyte, neutrophil, and lymphocyte counts, while the dependent variable was febrile seizure classification as SFS or CFS. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-square test at a 5% significance level. CFS occurred in 19 participants (54.3%), while SFS occurred in 16 (45.7%). Significant associations were found between seizure classification and age (p=0.003), body temperature (p=0.012), and previous febrile seizure history (p=0.030), whereas gender (p=0.945), leukocyte count (p=0.070), neutrophil count (p=1.000), and lymphocyte count (p=0.659) were not significantly associated. Age, body temperature, and previous febrile seizure history were associated with febrile seizure classification and may provide useful information for the initial assessment and monitoring of children with febrile seizures in emergency care.
