Screening for Plagiarism Policy
Ephemeris Delicata Concordia (EDC) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a plagiarism screening process before it is considered for peer review.
All submissions are screened using reputable plagiarism detection software to identify textual similarities, overlapping content, and potential violations of publication ethics. The plagiarism screening is conducted during the initial editorial assessment to ensure that only original and ethically compliant manuscripts proceed to the review stage.
The journal applies a maximum similarity index of 20%, excluding:
- Reference lists;
- Properly quoted and cited passages;
- Standard legal terminology and commonly used academic expressions;
- Titles, institutional affiliations, and other non-substantive elements.
A similarity index below 20% does not automatically guarantee acceptance. The Editorial Board also evaluates the nature, location, and context of any detected similarities to determine whether they represent legitimate citation practices or potential academic misconduct.
Manuscripts containing evidence of any of the following may be rejected immediately:
- Plagiarism;
- Self-plagiarism or redundant publication;
- Data fabrication or falsification;
- Image or document manipulation;
- Citation manipulation;
- Unauthorized use of copyrighted materials; or
- Any other form of research or publication misconduct.
Where minor textual similarities are identified and considered unintentional, authors may be invited to revise their manuscripts before the peer-review process begins. However, manuscripts involving substantial plagiarism or serious ethical violations will be rejected without further editorial consideration.
Authors are solely responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, that all sources are properly acknowledged, and that the work complies with internationally recognized standards of research and publication ethics.
If plagiarism or other forms of publication misconduct are discovered after publication, Ephemeris Delicata Concordia (EDC) reserves the right to issue corrections, expressions of concern, article retractions, or other appropriate editorial actions in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Through the implementation of this plagiarism screening policy, Ephemeris Delicata Concordia (EDC) seeks to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record, promote responsible legal research, and ensure that every published article represents an original, credible, and meaningful contribution to the advancement of legal science.
